Navigation buttons for your resume are not a necessity, but if you want to get fancy and include them, here's how to do it.
In the above example, the buttons are .gif graphics with transparent backgrounds. The buttons change when the mouse cursor is placed on them. This technique uses Java script for animation of the Dynamic HTML which swaps images when the mouse cursor is "rolled" over the graphic. Fortunately, with FrontPage and Dreamweaver, doing this is completely automated from the top line menu. If you use FrontPage, be sure to upload the "animate.js" file along with your other page and graphic files. If you use Dreamweaver, the Java script is embedded in the web page itself. Give the active button below a try (use the Back button of your browser to return).
If you don't want to take the time to make graphic buttons and do DHTML, you can opt for a simple text link to the anchor. Click on the underlined text link below to see it in action.
Remember, navigation menus are purely optional, but they're a nice touch if you have a particularly lengthy resume. Your resume reader will thank you for your courtesy.
